Finally! Well, technically not finally, since I'm only here for about a month now, but I was just looking forward to it. Dad would come to this island called UK.

I don't know how I managed to do so, but on the day I was about to show the city it was raining like I haven't seen yet here.

It was time to act as a city guide, with the main difference that my umbrella was actually in use, and not just as a recognition point.

Anyway we went to the university to impress him with our awesome photo and film studios and the creativity in general. The hallways of our JM building are filled with fashion photography, styling, make-up artists work, advertisments so I think it looks quite impressive when you walk through it.

You can also not walk through Southampton without showing the city centre with the huge shopping malls. I wanted to show the walls of the old city as well but at that moment it was so rainy that we first decided to go to the Sea City Museaum. A museum basically made around the Titanic. For the people who don't know: Southampton was the starting point of the Titanic, and many people from Southampton actually worked on the ship.

It was a very fun made interactive museum which I always like - not just the old miniature version and some text with it and that's it. With the Titanic Exhibition that I saw in Amsterdam you can almost visualize what it must have been like. In the Exhibition they recreated some areas of the ship and here you could get a better insight of the people who worked on the ship. So a good museum to see and get some general feeling about the atmosphere for, especially, the workers.

I have to mention that the Sea City Museum used to be the courtroom. You can still see it when you go to the toilets for instance where you can see the doors of the temporary cells.

In the end of the museum they really used their space well, using the real old court room to showcase the question of guilt for the sinking of Titanic.

Anyway, it was dry so time to show the older part of the city with the city wall and some ruins and churches. Unfortunately, halfway through my small tour it started raining. Not even raining but pouring. But, die-hards as we were, we continued to at least show the most important stuff.

After that it was hurry hurry hurry to change into dry clothes, get a shower and have dinner at Banana Wharf, a nice little restaurant with a view on the small haven. Unfortunately we didn't expect it to be that crowded so we got dumped under the staircase. But the food was still really good and a nice atmosphere so I'm definitely going back here!

The next day it was time for the real sight seeing! We went with two of my friends to Stonehenge! We got in a traffic jam for about 45 minutes due to some broken car but we finally arrived around 11.30. And I have to say: WHAT THE...?! Fifteen pounds for a group of stones?! Ridiculous if you ask me but at least they had little buses to take you from the ticket office to nearby Stonehenge. But it basically just means taking as many pictures of it as you can with a different cloud here, a ray of sunlight there and a selfie with all kinds of combinations (with dad, with my friends, with one friend etc.).

It was then time to go see Bath. A small city with old pittoresk little shops and houses situated withing some hills. It was really cute to see all those small streets. But apparently the Hare Krishna's are everywhere, Bath included. If I have time I would really like to go back just to take my time and stroll through the city. Just as with Venice; It's just a city you have to walk through, not to see anything in particular but to get the atmosphere of the city. After that we dropped of the girls, and went to have dinner again. Dad loves Indian food so we decided to go to this little Indian restaurant with the most ugly furniture you've ever seen but at least they had one table available. We examined the menu and my dad was so kind to ask; "Excuse me, do you might have something with chicken in it?" "But sir, we are a vegatarian restaurant..." Oopsie, awell, we ordered something that sounded good and indeed it was. If I'm not in the mood for meat this is a good option, despite the ugly decoration.

On the final day we decided to go see Portsmouth, city nearby Southampton with lots of navy stuff so I should feel right at home. We were so lucky with the weather because it was extremely sunny and warm and hardly any wind. We just walked over the pebbled beach and watching the boats and hoovercrafts go by. As a final meal we wanted to sit at this small beachrestaurant thingie. The moment we sit on the terrace the clouds were packing up, but it didn't rain or anything it just got a few degrees colder. It was really amazing to see and it reminded me of those paintings that you see in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam with rays of sunlight beaming through the clouds on the small sailboats.

It was time to get back, have a final cup of tea and say goodbye. It was nice to be able to talk Dutch for a few days and to show that I'm doing pretty okay here. So thank you dad!
